Culham - Science Centre

The UKAEA (United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority) owns land and property on both the Harwell International Business Centre and the Culham Science Centre located in Oxfordshire. Prior to our involvement, the UKAEA had two websites linked together – one for each centre. The sites (both built using static HTML) were managed in house with limited resources and knowledge, and were failing to portray the centres in the correct light.

The UKAEA wanted two brand new sites, focussing on promoting property availability to an external audience, whilst providing a community and information resource for existing tenants and staff, as well as visitors.

We decided to build structurally identical sites for both Harwell and Culham. This would ease development, and prove cost-effective for our client. All the content would be database driven, and CSS ensured that the each site retained a distinctive flavour, whilst remaining within a unified corporate brand.

We built a comprehensive content management system, in order to allow a team of administrators to manage the sites with maximum flexibility, minimal training, and no knowledge of HTML required. Technologies used to construct these sites include SQL Server, ASP, Javascript, as well as some cosmetic Flash animation to provide an upbeat, community spirit to the sites
