The Surrey Healthy Schools team had identified the need for an independent website in 2003 and had endeavoured to produce the site in-house. They quickly realised that they had neither the time nor the expertise and started to look for help.
We discussed the project at length, learning how the Healthy Schools Scheme worked and what the team wanted from the site. Essentially, they needed an on-line resource where people could access course components, case studies and up-to-date information. That meant the team needed to be able to update content and upload documents.
We created a bespoke content management system that allowed them to do just that. The site automatically links related documents and information to allow visitors to find information much more easily. Photography was also undertaken by The Marvellous Media Company. The site uses Javascript, ASP and a SQL Server database. It was developed at the team’s pace to fit in with their busy schedule and so a few weeks’ work was spread over nearly six months.
